Job summary

The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Global Category Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll join an organization that is organized into major spend categories including IT and Telco, Marketing, Professional Services, HR Services, Global Workplace Solutions, and Travel. You will engage with Red Hat stakeholders, set procurement strategies, guide strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiate contracts, and manage strategic supplier relationships related to Professional and HR Services purchases, including consulting services, contingent labor, financial services, education and training, employee benefits, payroll, etc. Your success will be measured against business metrics like savings, stakeholder satisfaction, supplier management, and business controls. You’ll report directly to the director of Global Procurement.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders and budget owners on appropriate spending strategies
  • Support stakeholders spend requirements and priorities by leading procurement initiatives
  • Select supplier sources by guiding competitive sourcing activities
  • Manage activities related to sourcing, supplier evaluation, and business award
  • Form contracts with selected suppliers to negotiate optimal terms and conditions
  • Build strategic relationships and manage supplier performance for key suppliers via stakeholder feedback and performance-based metrics
  • Ensure appropriate business controls are in place to reduce risk and protect Red Hat
  • Lead transformational activities to build procurement organizational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field; MBA is preferred
  • 5-10 years of procurement experience in various roles
  • Broad experience in the procurement of professional services and capable of interacting with Red Hat’s leadership and executive teams
  • Experience with developing and leading strategic sourcing initiatives for Professional and HR Services purchases
  • Solid analytical skills in performing bid analysis, cost analysis, fair-value analysis, and scenario modeling
  • Complex problem-solving with development and implementation of creative solutions
  • Solid experience with contract negotiations at senior levels
  • Experience in building relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and suppliers
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined projects with minimal amount of supervision
  • Experience presenting complex ideas to management in a simplified manner
  • Customer service oriented, team-player attitude
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
