Job summary

The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement CEE) team is looking for an Engineering Intern to help develop the our modern customer platform in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will contribute value to Red Hat's customers by enhancing both customer and internal-facing systems as part of an agile and globally distributed product development team. We work with many technologies, including Java on the JBoss platform, Camel, JavaScript frameworks, and other. We'll need you to have a solid knowledge of technology fundamentals and a passion for learning new technologies.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and extend both internal and external software
  • Ensure ongoing quality of the application code bases through bug fixes, refactoring, and test automation
  • Collaborate with other developers across multiple departments and technologies for different integration use cases

Required skills

  • Working toward a degree in software or computer engineering
  • Experience with Java or other high-level languages
  • Familiarity with web services like REST, SOAP, or Java messaging
  • Experience with XML, XSD, or XSL
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid, and high-pressure environment
  • Customer-focused and committed to product quality
  • Creative, motivated, and capable of working both on your own and as part of a globally distributed team

The following will be considered a plus:

  • Prior participation in open source software projects
  • Understanding of JBoss Fuse, OSGI, and Apache Camel
  • Knowledge of Maven, Ant, Git, Puppet, Hudson, Sonar, or Selenium
  • Background with the Linux or UNIX platform
