Job summary

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Engineering team is looking for a an intern to join us in Westford, MA. You’ll work with exciting upstream technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Atomic, Kubernetes, Cockpit, and container technologies. You will design and implement our modern technology while working with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative solutions for open source technology. As an intern, you will also contribute to open source projects while delivering enterprise-ready solutions that are based on these projects and are suitable for use by our customers. We'll need you to have an in-depth knowledge of enterprise integration technologies and enjoy solving complex problems with tough constraints.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product Management, and Documentation teams, product build teams, and the open source community
  • Communicate and coordinate dates, deliverables, feature requirements, roadmaps, etc. for the product with the project community
  • Monitor, manage, and help fix issues identified during functional, non-functional, platform, and acceptance testing
  • Monitor and maintain the continuous integration builds of the solutions
  • Manage and assist in pushing fixes to the product back into the upstream project
  • Submit patches for bug fixes to the community and review patches from other community members
  • Educate the team on new features through sprint reviews or small team presentations

Required skills

  • Expertise in C, Python, JavaScript, and Go languages
  • Experience with Git
  • Previous experience with Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or CentOS
  • Working knowledge of Docker and container technologies
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks
