Job summary

The Red Hat IT team is looking for a Data Security Architect to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll define, create, implement, and manage the approach for data access across the enterprise. You will provide a standard common business and technical vocabulary for data access, express strategic data access requirements, collaborate with the enterprise data architects to outline high-level data integration designs, and align with enterprise strategy, data strategy, security, and related business architecture. You’ll also collaborate with the Information Security team to set data security and access principles.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in defining data access approaches and enabling data access solutions and underlying capabilities
  • Collaborate with Info Security team to define data access definitions, classifications, hierarchy, etc. within the Information Security framework
  • Engage business and operations teams across the enterprise to gather, define, document, and maintain data access requirements

Required skills

  • Experience with authentication and authorization concepts and capabilities
  • Experience with single sign-on (SSO) concepts and capabilities
  • Experience with data warehousing and data visualization tools
  • Intermediate SQL skills
  • Familiarity with Context Diagram Modeling, e.g., Data Flow Diagrams, architectural diagrams (Archi), UML tools, data modeling tools, e.g., ERwin, enterprise architect
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies
  • Ability to accurately assess situations or people, emphasize methodology, governance, modeling, technology and demonstrate political neutrality
  • Well-articulated, persuasive, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to conceive and portray the big picture regarding data security and access
  • Ability to abstract general principles from specifics, conceptualize, and shape application and integration design, to foster desirable outcomes
  • Ability to map the systems and interfaces used to manage data, set standards for data access, analyze current state and conceive desired state capabilities, and conceive initiatives needed to close the gap between current state and future state goals
  • Knowledgeable in established data access principles, techniques, and technologies
  • Foundational understanding of system development life cycle, software project management, requirements gathering, design, test and validation techniques
