Job summary

The Red Hat Storage Business team is looking for a highly technical and a direct Senior Product Manager to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will be a product owner for Red Hat Gluster Storage. You’ll help develop Red Hat’s storage business, which is exceptionally strategic and aimed at fundamentally transforming the traditional storage industry with community-driven innovation. You’ll be responsible for defining and shaping several aspects of Red Hat Gluster Storage and supporting its key integration initiatives for container storage with the Red Hat OpenShift Platform, Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Red Hat Virtualization, public cloud storage solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and other partner-centric, software-defined storage (SDS) use cases. As a Senior Product Manager, you will analyze emerging workloads, anticipate customer demands and business problems, track hardware advancements, establish your expertise and vision, and create a roadmap that will help Red Hat deliver the storage and data solutions for next generation workloads. You’ll need to be able to understand key concepts in storage, virtualization, containers, public cloud-based storage models for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and storage and data life cycle management in the enterprise as well as the cloud.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Be the product owner and main point of contact for Red Hat Gluster Storage for key internal Red Hat stakeholders including sales teams
  • Define what and why (not how) and guide releases of the offering with a cross-functional team in accordance with strategic objectives for the offering
  • Collaborate with other product managers to support and enable key Red Hat Gluster Storage initiatives including delivering the best storage for Red Hat OpenShift Platform and Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure and the best software-defined, scale-out, network-attached storage (NAS) solution
  • Shape the offering with real time feedback to engineering teams based on the practical experience with it
  • Engage and help Sales team with advanced opportunities
  • Enable marketing launches of the offering

Required skills

  • Experience working as a product manager or an engineering manager for storage, data, cloud or other infrastructure software offerings; product management background is a plus
  • Deep understanding of the Linux operating system and its storage technologies including its filesystems (XFS), LVM, and device mapper layers
  • Good understanding of open source software development models, community-driven project delivery, and how to productize open source software
  • Undergraduate technical degree, i.e., computer science or electrical engineering; MBA is a plus
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Motivated and passionate; ability to work with little to no guidance
  • Ability to learn quickly; good problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 40%
  • Understanding of next generation container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and public cloud storage offerings in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP is a plus
