Job summary

Become part of the OpenShift team and use your passion for technology and development, balanced with the responsibility of running a hosted service and supporting a product. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Senior Software Engineer to enhance our container management strategy and join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will be a key member of our OpenShift team and focus on standardization of containers, which will include work around Red Hat Container Catalog, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environment. We are building a team and service that will change how development is done, using the strength of Red Hat technologies and services hosted in the cloud. You'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers on OpenShift by Red Hat and Red Hat Container Catalog to provide seamless developer experience
  • Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat as well as with the open source community
  • Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other OpenShift engineers, product managers, and management across the globe
  • Be an engineering contributor to Red Hat Container Catalog and OpenShift by Red Hat to deliver the functionality needed
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate with end users through IRC, forums, and email

Required skills

  • 5-10 years experience in enterprise software development
  • Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to directly interact with customers
  • Ability to work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to learn quickly, in particular the following technology:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, working with technologies like cgroups and SELinux
    • Everything Containers and Kubernetes related
  • Familiarity with one of the following:
    • Upstream communities
    • Ruby and Bash scripting
    • Go
  • Familiarity with OpenShift by Red Hat is an advantage
