Job summary

The Red Hat Storage for Containers Test team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will develop automated tests for the Container-Native Storage project. You’ll develop and maintain tests in our automated testing system using a combination of Python, Perl, Ruby, and shell scripts. You will also be responsible for automating test cases in our test automation framework as well as augmenting the framework to evolve with the solutions under which it is used to test. We’ll need you to be comfortable with daily team communication and collaboration while also being able to work on your own. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will get the opportunity to make significant contributions and improvements to Red Hat's quality engineering processes and infrastructure while also participating in upstream testing efforts in the open source community.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design high level test approaches that suit customer deployments and come up with Automation test framework recommendations and detailed test plans for the functionality
  • Automate test cases and carry out as part of new feature testing and enabling automated regression runs for subsequent releases
  • Lead the Automation testing effort and work with other engineers to get test cases automated
  • Design, develop, and implement automation scripts using open source tools
  • Provide an accurate and timely status of automated testing efforts and quality statistics to the Engineering team
  • Define the quality of the deliverables and shape the delivery of quality
  • Actively participate in requirements, functional and design aspects of the product
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT with 1-3 years of working experience
  • Expertise in programming languages like Python, Perl, Java, or C
  • Good knowledge of test automation using frameworks
  • Experience with leading automation efforts and writing and debugging automation tests for complex enterprise software
  • Ability to identify and leverage tools for automated solutions best suited for testing needs
  • Experience with continuous integration and automation frameworks
  • Domain expertise with storage related technologies, including block level storage and file systems
  • Experience with troubleshooting and debugging in Linux and UNIX environments
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • Thorough knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Working experience with automated testing tools
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Understanding of virtualization and VMware technology and containers like Docker
  • Experience with performance and security testing is a plus
