Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Online team is looking for a Senior OpenShift Enablement Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will create new tools, systems, and onboarding systems for both our Online and Dedicated service offerings. You'll also play a key part in a team responsible for engaging with the community and enabling users to quickly and easily get up and running with OpenShift Online. We'll need you to be able to work in a complicated and changing environment, while quickly learning new technologies and languages and devising ways to consistently meet the needs of enterprise customers. This role will provide you the opportunity to use the newest technologies and frameworks to build modern tools and applications used by both internal and external customers. You’ll also gain insight into community management and open source project best practices. Join the team working on Red Hat's world-class Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Responsible for building next generation tools to guide user adoption and enterprise customer self service
  • Work with our engineering and design teams to prioritize new features and bug fixes based on customer feedback
  • Work with middleware and other engineering teams to onboard new services onto OpenShift Online and Dedicated
  • Manage and document all aspects of the customer experience including working with customers across multiple channels
  • Write original content, create new videos and how-to articles, and find others in the developer community who can write guest posts and contribute content
  • Build relationships with the maintainers of open source projects that can run on OpenShift Online to understand how to improve their experiences

Required skills

  • 6-8 years of web and software development experience
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX (command line, permissions, etc)
  • Programming experience with Ruby, Python, PHP, NodeJS, Java, and Shell
  • Database experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
  • Knowledge of web development and cloud computing
  • Outstanding problem-solving and collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work on your own
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Background and experience with the following is considered a plus:

  • Mobile development (iOS and Android), Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, or Middleman
  • Writing and consuming APIs
  • Elasticsearch
  • Caching (Redis, Memcached, and Varnish)
