Job summary

Red Hat’s Information Technology (IT) Productivity team is looking for an experienced individual to join us as a Senior Project Manager in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting IT projects delivering on key strategic objectives. You’ll oversee multiple challenging projects, so you’ll need to be a motivated, team-focused problem-solver. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be expected to oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of key strategic projects, including helping to define scoping, planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Take information regarding the scope and success criteria for strategic initiatives and translate it into realizable plans and deliverables associated with key objectives
  • Meet financial objectives by assisting with project and program forecasting requirements; help with preparing project budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance project effectiveness
  • Serve as a working member of the project team, taking on key aspects of implementation as appropriate
  • Communicate with IT leadership, business leadership, and IT business partners to convey project strategy, direction, and changes
  • Take responsibility for tracking key project objectives and recommending adjustments to the leadership

Required skills

  • Expert knowledge of project management theories, tools, procedures, and practices
  • Experience developing, evaluating, recommending, and implementing processes and procedures
  • Understanding of strategic planning principles, contract administration principles, and research methods
  • Familiarity with budget development and administration principles and practices
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating employees
  • Ability to prioritize and assign work
  • Knowledge of change Management
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously
  • Ability to build relationships across IT and business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
