Job summary

Collaborate with the Red Hat state and local education sales teams to develop marketing strategies and goals, target accounts, and messaging. Red Hat's Public Sector Marketing team is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Marketing Manager to join us in McLean, VA. In this role, you will serve as the intermediary between the Sales team and the campaign marketing managers and the Marketing team’s presenter in meetings and quarterly business reviews (QBRs). You’ll deliver customer insights for targeting, demand generation activities and events, sales enablement, and custom collateral. As a Marketing Manager, you’ll need to have a proven record of developing and implementing successful local marketing programs targeting the State and Local Government and Education (SLED) markets.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Create and implement marketing programs targeting the SLED markets in collaboration with sales teams
  • Improve the sales organization's ability to sell through effective sales communications and the development of enablement tools
  • Serve as an intermediary between the Sales team and the campaign marketing managers to ensure messaging and tactics support market trends, mandates, and unique business challenges
  • Serve as the voice of marketing with sales leadership
  • Effectively manage the marketing budget
  • Create campaigns in (SFDC) and work with online marketing teams to ensure proper lead import, nurture, and tracking
  • Work with channel and alliance marketing teams to implement joint partner campaigns as applicable

Required skills

  • 6-10 years of marketing experience, preferably in the technology field; public sector market experience is a plus
  • Proven record of guiding campaign and marketing program results, especially with U.S. public sector accounts
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic; responsive with solid organization and communication skills
  • Keen understanding of field sales needs, stages of the customer buying cycle, campaign metrics and analysis, and market intelligence resources
  • Solid writing skills to produce promotional messaging and website and email copy
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and creativity
  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
