Job summary

Support our cloud and network management presales efforts in the government sector with technologies like Ansible by Red Hat, Red Hat CloudForms, and Red Hat OpenStack Platform. The Red Hat Public Sector Sales team is looking for a Solutions Architect with expertise in cloud, network, and data center provisioning and management to join us in McLean, VA. In this role, you will create solutions and present compelling recommendations to Red Hat’s customers. You'll help our customers invest wisely in cloud and provisioning solutions that will give them maximum flexibility in the future, allowing them to run faster and more efficiently. You’ll need to have a balance of serious technical expertise, passion for open source, thorough understanding of business processes, and of the ability to identify and create business solutions at the enterprise level. As a Solutions Architect, you will also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first major experience our customers have with Red Hat.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary technical associate for Ansible by Red Hat, networking, and hybrid cloud management offerings within the sales team, particularly as they increasingly apply to Windows environments
  • Conduct regular demonstrations of Ansible by Red Hat and other Red Hat cloud management technologies, particularly in the areas of network automation
  • Lead the gathering of architecture, design, and presentation of solutions to meet the needs of our prospective customers
  • Guide and support presales pilots, demonstrations, proofs of concepts, evaluations, and benchmarks
  • Provide timely and accurate technical responses to presales requests
  • Actively engage and support prospective customers in technical evaluations of Red Hat cloud management offerings
  • Develop and maintain tools to support the sales and marketing teams, including demonstrations and presentation materials
  • Contribute to building best practices among peers in sales and engineering
  • Ensure revenue quota, deployment, and service objectives are met while maintaining a high level of existing and prospective customer satisfaction
  • Research and write the responses to technical sections of RFIs and RFPs
  • Form relationships with customer technical associates to identify new opportunities

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical presales, support, or consulting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Deep knowledge of networking and network administration
  • Solid system administration skills in both Windows and Linux domains
  • Knowledge of enterprise cloud solutions, deploying and running solutions in a cloud environment, and private, public, and hybrid clouds
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven record of developing relationships at engineering, commercial, and executive levels
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience selling to or providing service for the U.S. public sector
  • Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and general problem-solving skills
  • Great customer service skills and a solid desire to make users successful
  • Ability to work in the field in remote offices on your own; excellent prioritization skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%

The following are considered a plus:

  • Cisco networking certifications (CCNP or CCIE)
  • Experience with datacenter automation tools and processes
  • System administrator, network administrator, or datacenter architecture experience
  • Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) experience with technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Compute Engine (GCE)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certifications
  • Familiarity with virtualization using technologies like VMware, Xen, KVM, etc.
  • Security clearance
