Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Manager to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will help guide the globally distributed Red Hat Virtualization Engineering team. This is a great opportunity to work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative software solutions.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage team members, ensure team retention, and bring new people into the team
  • Work with other engineering managers and teams to coordinate development efforts, use existing technologies, and implement improvements
  • Perform project management tasks like development planning and control of multiple parallel projects across the Virtualization team
  • Work with cross-functional managers and teams on quality assurance, product management, and documentation to coordinate tasks necessary for releasing enterprise-quality software

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of significant software development experience
  • 2+ years managing software developers and releases of our offerings
  • Project management knowledge and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Familiar with agile or scrum methodologies
  • Understanding of open source development models and how the Linux community interacts
  • Prior participation in open source community software development or leadership
  • Background in virtualization with experience with KVM-based virtualization
