Job summary

The Red Hat Portfolio Programs team is looking for a Product Manager to join us in Westford, MA or Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll help guide change and innovation within Red Hat and with industry leaders and deliver a comprehensive set of solutions and services for internal use and to be integrated into our solutions that enable seamless distribution and consumption of containerized content from Red Hat and our partners. We’ll need you to be technically sound on container services and technology like dockerfiles, registries, manifests, signatures, and the end-to-end data and system requirements to build, scan, deliver, and consume container images continuously. You will often work closely with creative engineers within Red Hat and within the open source community to design and deliver emerging technologies and services while at the same time focused on getting things done. Frequently, that will require making trade-offs, formulating both short- and long-term solutions, and balancing the business needs and desires. You will need to lead the execution of product plans and road maps, coordinating a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders in order to achieve results and managing progress of teams outside of your reporting structure.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Understand customer needs and gather product requirements   
  • Establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to implementation
  • Establish roadmaps and milestones that clearly articulate where we are, where we need to be, and how to get there
  • Engage closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods and make critical decisions between performance, features, and speed-to-market
  • Define, track, and report metrics that inform the success of the solutions and services you deliver
  • Deliver products and services to the market

Required skills

  • 5+ years of being the owner of a successful software product with proven experience of managing the product life cycle, interaction with a development and marketing team, and owning the product roadmap
  • Proven track record of motivating others without direct authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Prior success in shaping cross-product integrations is a major plus
  • Excellent leader, results-oriented, and with experience in managing cross-functional products or projects to produce results in a timely manner
  • Ability to build relationships with different teams through sound and nuanced understanding of customer use cases, competitive landscape, and technical differentiation
  • Comfortable working in an emerging and fluid product space, delivering internal requirements and tangible value to customers and partners early and often
