Job summary

Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy targeted at technical buyers as well as developers of mobile services in the enterprise sector. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Technical Marketing Manager to join us in Westford, MA or Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will focus on the delivery of mobile applications and backend services on our OpenShift by Red Hat container and Kubernetes platform. You'll work closely with product management and product marketing teams and solutions architects in the field to support the sales cycle including thought leadership, demand generation, and technical enablement competitive analysis and to adjust the product direction based on emerging trends. Your success as a Technical Marketing Manager depends on your ability to deliver effective technical marketing content, including demos, labs, blogs and whitepapers, deployment scenarios, training and enablement materials, customer-facing presentations, and solutions-level content like an OpenShift by Red Hat-based mobile solution delivered by Red Hat and our partners.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out technical marketing plans for mobile applications and backend services running on OpenShift by Red Hat
  • Develop demos for our offerings and solutions, workshops, and interactive lab environments
  • Guide our technical thought leadership activities through blogging and social media, whitepapers, presentations, case studies, reference architectures and deployment scenarios
  • Build scalable field technical enablement plans and content to help our solutions architects and professional services teams position our mobile capabilities within the broader market context, support the sales cycle, succeed in competitive bake-off situations, and deliver on successful RFIs, RFPs, and POCs
  • Track competitive trends and conduct win-loss analyses
  • Work with alliance and ecosystem partners to develop joint value propositions
  • Collaborate with other teams to create technical proof points specific to performance benchmarks and reference architectures
  • Represent Red Hat at customer and industry events

Required skills

  • 10+ years of software industry experience, preferably within an area of mobile application development like client app development, mobile device management, cloud security, data sync, Node.js, and push notifications
  • 5+ years of experience and proven record in a technical marketing role; additional experience in a product management, sales engineering, or solutions architecture role is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science; advanced degree is a plus  
  • Domain knowledge and experience with open source projects
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working with and presenting to all levels of an organization
  • Experience working effectively in a cross-functional environment where persuasion skills are important
  • Ability to be meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a highly complex environment
  • Proven experience with demand generation, social media, and digital marketing
  • Willingness to travel 10-25%
  • Practical experience working with Docker containers and Kubernetes is a big plus
