Job summary

Lead a team of sales associates in promoting the success of a multi-product go-to-market strategy for Red Hat. The Red Hat Sales team is looking for an Area Sales Manager for the Southeast region to join us in North Carolina. In this role, you will report to the Regional Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic, being instrumental in developing and implementing growth strategies and a comprehensive solutions approach to reach enterprise customers for Red Hat. You'll need to have a dynamic and creative approach to managing your team of sales professionals. As an Area Sales Manager, you will also need to be team-oriented and passionate with solid problem-solving skills.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop, coach, and mentor a sales team to grow business and promote effective sales strategies
  • Motivate and inspire your team while taking on competitors as Red Hat gains market share in enterprise markets
  • Guide the sales team to achieve quarterly and annual revenue and growth targets by establishing sales goals and monitoring their achievement
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other members of the regional leadership team and contribute to the strategic and tactical success of Red Hat's core business and the company as a whole

Required skills

  • 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in a highly matrixed software organization
  • Proficient with profit and loss (P&L) management and marketing strategies that contribute to success  
  • Experience managing a $50M+ sales team and demonstrated ability to use personal knowledge, processes, and solutions selling strategies and methodologies to meet revenue growth objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and promote plan implementation targets
  • Relationship-oriented with a solid presence and proven ability to build credibility at all levels within a customer organization, including among C-level executives
