Job summary

Guide the consulting portfolio and solutions. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Solutions Manager to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for the portfolio strategy, solutions and offerings roadmap, development plans, launch, enablement, feedback, and retiring of solutions. You’ll use your product management expertise and deep understanding of the Red Hat’s solutions portfolio to identify opportunities for services solutions and offerings, collaborate on strategy, and guide the development and deployment of tooling, collateral, and methodologies that will enable the Red Hat Consulting team and our partners to deliver these services at scale. As a Solutions Manager, you will work closely with senior technical and business personnel globally within Red Hat, our partners, and our customers to identify opportunities and create repeatable services solutions and methodologies to address these opportunities. This role should ideally be based in Chicago, IL, but remote qualified candidates residing in other major U.S. cities will be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and implement global solutions vision and roadmap, ensuring its alignment with Red Hat’s solutions portfolio strategy
  • Guide global solutions development from conception to launch and oversee solutions life cycle management, including in-market management, versioning (i.e., upgrades or enhancements), and end-of-life implementation
  • Develop and present rigorous data-driven business cases for solutions
  • Help with ROI analysis and develop content to help customers make the business case for our solutions; work with services marketing teams to develop customer evidence and map them to emerging use cases for solutions
  • Lead one or more global cross-functional solutions teams and coordinate integrated solutions development across emerging technology practices, consulting services, and business teams
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with the Engineering, Support, Documentation, Consulting, and other teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time
  • Own all program metrics, including development schedule, demand generation, bookings, Go Lives, and customer satisfaction
  • Guide awareness and enablement plans in region to ensure that Red Hat’s sales, consulting, and partner audiences can successfully position, scope, and deliver the portfolio of solutions
  • Work with the Red Hat Consulting and marketing teams to identify internal and external marketing opportunities and gaps at both regional and global levels
  • Provide direction, content, and support for product marketing efforts including trade shows, webinars, and other demand generation activities
  • Work with communities of practice (CoPs) to gather new ideas for solutions and to incorporate feedback

Required skills

  • 10+ years of experience in a technology industry including specific experience in consulting and services delivery around the adoption and evolution of emerging application technologies and practices (e.g., n-tiered application architecture, SOA, DevOps, or microservices)
  • 5+ years of experience defining and leading solutions-oriented, enterprise-level consulting services with a focus on business process and automation applications, architecture evolution, application integration, and service management practices
  • 2+ years of product and solutions management or marketing experience along with collaborating on and contributing to strategy, planning, development, and marketing integration for IT services and solutions
  • Experience defining and guiding DevOps adoption and evolution within organizations including the definition and orchestration of infrastructure, operations, applications architecture, automation, and governance
  • Solid foundation in agile development, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and behavior-based definition and testing approaches; understanding of the roles of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), and infrastructure as code (IaC) in accelerating business
  • General understanding of the Red Hat’s portfolio and underlying technologies or a similar portfolio of offerings in the IT space with demonstrated expertise in business process automation (e.g., Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite), business rule analysis and definition (e.g., Red Hat JBoss BRMS), container technologies (e.g., OpenShift by Red Hat, Docker, or Kubernetes), and CI and CD (e.g., Maven, Jenkins, or Git)
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and initiatives in a compelling manner to audiences ranging in size, background, and responsibility to guide buy-in, adoption, and engagement
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, motivated, inventive, professional, approachable, creative, and analytical; competent leader and problem-solver
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or engineering, or in business administration with demonstrated technical expertise; master’s degree is a plus
