    Job summary

    The Red Hat IT team is looking for a Director of Enterprise Data Architecture to join us in Raleigh, NC, reporting to the vice president of Enterprise Data and Analytics team. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of reliable, timely, and consumable data for operational use and downstream analytics. You will express strategic data requirements, help improve data processes, and identify areas where persistent problems exist within our data infrastructure. You’ll also be responsible for all data assets under business functions (e.g. Sales, People, Marketing, Product, etc.) and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and related business architecture. In addition, we’ll expect you to oversee setting vision and direction, aligning data architecture with business strategy, defining data architecture guiding principles, ensuring the creation of data models showing key data entities and relationships, and creating an inventory of the data needed to implement the data vision.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work closely with the business so that the data architecture is aligned with and capable of supporting the business needs
    • Collaborate with all areas of IT, including application, integration, data management and data warehouse teams
    • Lead vision, direction, and guiding principles for data architecture
    • Guide improvement in tools and capabilities to support the data strategy and vision
    • Organize data at a macro level, establish subject areas, and at what level they are managed in relation to master and reference data
    • Ensure an Enterprise Logical Data Model is available as a standard for master repositories and for consuming applications to inherit
    • Establish logical data modeling practice to help capture business rules needed for the creation and management of modeled data

    Required skills

    • 10+ years of experience as a data architect working with both large operational and data warehousing environments, conceptual and logical data modeling (relational and dimensional), context diagram modeling (Data Flow Diagrams, Architectural Diagrams (Archi), UML tools) and knowledge of Ontological and Taxonomic concepts
    • Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture and be able to develop an end-to-end vision for the enterprise, expressing complex technical information in understandable, user-friendly language and style
    • Knowledge of industry best practices, master data management (MDM), data governance, established data management principles and techniques and emerging data and reporting technologies
    • Experience in transitioning enterprise data from traditional data technologies to emerging technologies, like NoSQL, predictive analytics, data visualization, natural language processing and unstructured data
    • Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) and ERP system implementation and approaches, with the capability of initiating, evaluating, and shaping projects from the perspective of the entire organization
    • Ability to lead, advise, manage, and oversee the work of others in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment, with agile project management experience
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with other leaders and associates throughout the organization, including executive management
