    Job summary

    Play a critical part in making the documentation for the Red Hat telco offering a competitive differentiator. The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Content Strategist to join the Red Hat Telco Product Documentation team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will oversee the creation and implementation of a comprehensive strategy that defines content standards to support key business objectives and develop strategies for achieving these standards. You’ll define processes and policies to enable rapid adoption of new content specifications in response to stakeholder and customer demand. As a Content Strategist, you will work closely with our product management and product marketing, engineering and development, content services, and customer experience teams to ensure that our content meets the needs of all internal stakeholders and provides outstanding customer experience.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive strategy that defines content and standards to support key business objectives; serve as a single point of contact for stakeholders, provide sign-off to program management teams, report status and negotiate changes to deliverables and schedules, and communicate and get buy-in for the content plan to all relevant stakeholders
    • Develop plans for achieving these standards and guide and supports significant program implementation of content plans and team initiatives
    • Review high-level development scoping information and determine initial resource requirements to support initiatives
    • Mentor other content strategists and develop your leadership and persuasion skills
    • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, complex problem-solving, and excellent team and relationship building skills; lead people and projects in an open way that inspires confidence
    • Understand the impact of content decisions and strategy, not just within the Customer Content Services team, but also in areas across Red Hat like technical support engineering
    • Understand various content development and publishing methodologies, tools, and defect-tracking systems
    • Establish consistent content plans that are supported by all stakeholders, including product management, product marketing, field, support services, and content development team members who have to implement them; clearly understand the audience, personas, use cases, and user stories for your solutions area
    • Curate content for display on the product page on the Red Hat website for each release of our offerings; work with marketing and product marketing teams to improve customer experience and align the documentation for our offerings with launch messaging
    • Research customer content usage and other customer analytics to prioritize content focus and report on customer usage
    • Incorporate feedback from customers and other stakeholders into continual improvement efforts of content and of processes and standards
    • Understand and advocate for the role of content in the success of an offering; build relationships across offerings and product teams
    • Participate in and lead major initiatives and change efforts

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience working with enterprise software documentation as a technical writer, information architect, or content strategist
    • Experience working with diverse sets of stakeholders to solve complex problems; experience working with globally-distributed teams is a plus
    • Knowledge of use cases and user story-based content development
    • Experience in the telecommunications industry and understanding of relevant terminology and solutions; familiarity with telco over cloud, network functions virtualization (NFV), and SDN is a big plus
    • Detail-oriented with excellent follow up skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Passion for and experience with promoting change and continual improvement
    • Experience with agile software development
    • Familiarity with Red Hat's enterprise solutions portfolio and related industry offerings
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, technical communications, or something closely related, or equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector
    • Familiarity with the open source development model and open source software solutions is a plus
    • Familiarity with enterprise Java and cloud technologies in the enterprise sector is a plus
