    Job summary

    Red Hat's Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Project Manager with a full understanding of industry standard project management practices and familiarity navigating complex IT project in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you'll manage highly technical projects to successful completion from initiation through delivery and closure and work with stakeholders within the CEE to coordinate cross-functional teams on projects of diverse scope. You will help to instill an organizational project management discipline and serve as an ambassador and evangelist for the adoption of project management fundamentals, principles, and methodologies throughout the CEE team. In addition to project management experience in a complex and global technical organization, we'll expect you to have a collaborative mindset and passion for motivating the workplace.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Under minimal direction, lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for Red Hat CEE projects
    • Control project requirements, scope, and change management issues
    • Determine, monitor, and review all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk
    • Work with management to develop project proposals, charters, estimates, and schedules
    • Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to projects they manage
    • Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria
    • Develop detailed communications and reporting procedures for projects
    • Manage project change using repeatable methodologies and clear communication with project stakeholders
    • Undertake status review meetings among project team members and stakeholders
    • Integrate and use specific industry and company-standard PM and technical delivery methodologies (e.g. PM methodologies based on PMI standards and the CEE Project Management Lifecycle)
    • Assist in the training of the project team on application of appropriate procedures and advise team members to accomplish project goals to meet established schedules and resolve technical and operational issues
    • Coach and mentor junior-level project managers when necessary

    Required skills

    • 7+ years in a project management role, managing complex technical projects
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Track record of successfully managing high-complexity projects and multicultural and multidisciplinary teams
    • Experience managing both agile and waterfall style projects
    • Experience with establishing and contributing to process improvements
    • Outstanding verbal and written English communication skills; solid interpersonal and leadership skill and analytical abilities
    • Ability to work effectively across a widely diverse management team, as well as a broad spectrum of internal partners
    • Detail oriented and able to work in a very fast-paced environment
    • Ability to articulate the project management value proposition and be an evangelist for PM techniques and CEE PM methodologies
    • PRINCE2, ITIL, Certified Scrum Master, Six Sigma, MSPM are a plus
    • Experience with IT support management methodologies and techniques is preferred
    • Practical experience with Linux operating systems, Platform-as-a-Service and cloud computing services, and container application platforms like OpenShift is highly desirable
