    Job summary

    The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a skilled Technical Program Manager to deliver a comprehensive vendor operations and license management program in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will lead several projects within cross-functional engineering, technical support, DevOps, and partner engagement teams and manage a complex vendor and license portfolio, ensuring that success metrics are informing future efforts, and quickly fine tuning the program as needed to address new challenges. You will help define the scope of those projects and partner across teams to prioritize and address business needs and ensure timely and cost-effective solution implementations. A solid foundation in technical project and program management is required to develop and understand detailed business requirements to inform and operationalize governance models for a variety of technical license and vendor management needs.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop and oversee the program designed to manage vendor license use and lead the process for defining, measuring, and running vendor operations, governance, and performance
    • Manage project schedules, identify risks, and clearly communicate risks to project stakeholders
    • Develop and deliver regular program analytics to inform stakeholders of relevant license and vendor utilization, alignment with business needs, and forecast future license or procurement needs
    • Create, document, and operationalize key license management governance functions like license or cloud access intake, monitoring, and release processes
    • Evaluate and implement license management and cloud health management tools from external vendors; perform cost benefit and build versus buy analysis on cloud management and license tooling solutions
    • Coordinate with key enterprise procurement and vendor management partners within Red Hat to ensure program alignment with vendor lifecycle management tools and processes

    Required skills

    • 6+ years of demonstrated experience delivering technical programs in a fast-paced environment
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification
    • Experience in a global high-technology company, preferably within the enterprise software industry; clear understanding of the customer life cycle within the high-tech industry
    • Experience managing programs and projects involving third party suppliers in a technical capacity
    • Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with cross-functional technical and non-technical groups spanning all organizational levels
    • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
    • Understanding of cloud computing, key cloud computing vendors, and enterprise cloud licensing models  
    • Some experience with Linux and open source software technologies is preferred
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant business or technical discipline; master’s degree is preferred
