The Red Hat People team is looking for a Compensation Consultant based in Raleigh, NC supporting our Americas Sales and Services teams. In this role, you will join a team responsible for ensuring Red Hat's compensation programs enhance our ability to attract and retain the high tech industries best talent. You’ll work in an exciting, fast-paced environment focused on growth. You will be the key player in enabling that growth by consulting and offering strategy development feedback on compensation programs that fit into our Total Rewards philosophy for base salary, short-term and long-term incentive plans, compensation communications and training, as well as compensation technology and tools.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the Global Compensation team, People team, and key business contacts in a team-based consulting model to solve issues and translate Red Hat’s compensation philosophy into an actionable strategy for your supported group
    • Act as a compensation program subject matter expert; be a trusted resource to Sales and Services management and People team members on all compensation related matters
    • Actively identify, monitor, and work with supported organization and your Global Compensation and People team partners to recommend holistic solutions for supported organization
    • In coordination with your Global Compensation team partners, develop and implement compensation recommendations for management and other critical roles based on market analysis, talent review, succession planning, and business strategy
    • Monitor and analyze competitive compensation data to determine if adjustments are needed to Red Hat’s salary structure, pay practices, or compensation guidelines
    • Conduct job evaluations and compensation recommendations for positions of all levels
    • Develop special retention or incentive plans based on business need
    • Support equity and long-term incentive planning, salary review, sales plan, and bonus planning processes for Sales and Services associate populations
    • Coach managers and People team associates on recommended distribution of available budget considering associate performance and position in market

    Required skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or analytical field (math, science, finance) preferred; CCP preferred
    • 3+ years of compensation consulting and administration experience for a company with global operations to include providing feedback, recommendations, and education to associates at all organizational levels
    • 2+ years of experience administering compensation programs through global HRIS systems
    • Experience providing compensation guidance to senior level management on compensation best practices
    • Experience consulting with globally distributed high-tech engineering, product management, sales, and product marketing organizations
    • Experience developing and administering sales compensation plans helpful
    • Advanced spreadsheet and data presentation skills including the ability to apply functions like lookups, date conversion, pivot tables, and mathematical formulas
