    Job summary

    Become the catalyst who creates possibilities, solves problems, and establishes strategic relationships with our customers. The Red Hat Training team is looking for a Sales Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help customers understand how Red Hat training and certification offerings will give them a competitive advantage and achieve their business objectives. You’ll need to have a balance of technical expertise, passion for open source, and of deep understanding of business processes and IT problems faced at the enterprise level to identify and create business solutions. As a Sales Engineer, you will also need excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first impression our customers have with Red Hat.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Discover and analyze customer business and technical problems and connect the appropriate Red Hat training and certification offering that meets their needs
    • Work with sales and curriculum development teams to define custom and customized training solutions for customers with complex infrastructure deployments and specialized learning objectives
    • Use your deep knowledge of our offerings to provide technical leadership to the sales team and the customer through sales conversations and presentations and demonstrations of our offerings
    • Meet revenue and bookings goals while sustaining good relationships with existing and prospective customers
    • Collaborate with training delivery teams to ensure excellent customer experience with our offerings and solutions
    • Work in partnership with training and certification development teams to ensure that our offerings match current and future customer needs

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience as a sales engineer, consultant, solutions architect, or an equivalent role; experience in sales is a plus
    • Deep knowledge of Linux or UNIX-based system architectures, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and related technologies
    • Deep understanding of one or more emerging technology areas where Red Hat competes like cloud platforms, DevOps, microservices, container management and orchestration, automation, or virtualization
    • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills; record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels
    • One or more Red Hat certification(s) are a big plus
    • Familiarity with container and container orchestration technologies like Linux containers (Docker) and Kubernetes is a plus
    • OpenShift by Red Hat experience a plus
