    Job summary

    Work on our Kubernetes container platform solution. The Red Hat OpenShift Product Management team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join us in Sunnyvale, California. In this role, you will be responsible for specific OpenShift by Red Hat subsystems and work with our Engineering and product teams responsible for building and delivering these to market. You’ll be involved in the planning and carrying out of releases and new launches of our offerings, prioritizing and communicating requirements for our offerings in order to promote development, supporting the field organization in advanced sales opportunities, performing competitive reviews and analysis, and working with partners. As a Principal Product Manager, you will actively contribute to the overall company strategy and work closely with engineering, marketing, support, sales, and field teams to ensure the success of our offerings. You’ll engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives including Kubernetes, Docker and Moby, OpenShift Origin, CoreOS, Fedora, CentOS, and more. You’ll need to have great communication and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity to work on a fast-growing offering alongside some of the brightest minds in open source.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Collect and document input from OpenShift by Red Hat users, customers, community members, and other stakeholders to understand customer needs and develop a strategy and roadmap for the offering
    • Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, documenting their relative strengths and weakness in order to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new releases
    • Prioritize and document requirements, epics, and user stories for new releases of our offerings
    • Guide major enhancements for our offerings by working cross-functionally with core teams across Red Hat Engineering and the upstream open source community
    • Work with the OpenShift Engineering team and the overall product team to manage releases and updates for our offerings and bring new OpenShift by Red Hat solutions to market
    • Work with the sales teams to respond to customer inquiries, deliver customer presentations and demos, and support the overall sales process
    • Support sales and marketing activities including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical collateral for our offerings
    • Review and provide feedback on the documentation for our offerings

    Required skills

    • 5-10 years of enterprise software industry experience in Product Management, Technical Marketing, or a similar technical product or customer-facing role
    • Linux skills and direct experience with Linux containers technology like Kubernetes, Docker, and related
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Heroku, or similar cloud  or application management solutions
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Bachelor's or graduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Development skills in or experience with Java, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, or similar
    • Experience with open source technologies and business models
    • Experience with the agile development process
