    Job summary

    Gain meaningful familiarity with Red Hat's global business and quickly become an integral member of the Legal team. The Red Hat Legal team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Corporate Paralegal professional to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of corporate legal matters, including the preparation of materials for the Red Hat, Inc. Board of Directors and supporting the operation of the Corporate Legal team. You’ll need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly evolving environment. You’ll also need to have excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous organizational ability and attention to detail while being passionate about interacting and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders or counsel across geographies, cultures, and functions. You’ll need to be accurate, concise, and thorough in your written and verbal communications, as well as persuasive using your natural, multi-modal skills in this area and your high EQ. You’ll also need to be intellectually curious, particularly in Red Hat's business, story, culture and growth strategy. The role is well-suited for an “athlete” that wants to learn new things and be challenged intellectually rather than perform the same routine day to day.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Assist in the planning, preparation, distribution, and coordination of materials for the Red Hat, Inc. Board of Directors and Committee meetings, including preparation and drafting of agendas, meeting minutes, and related administration and record-keeping
    • Assist with a wide variety of corporate legal matters, including data privacy and security, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance
    • Track and guide the achievement of the Corporate Legal team goals and objectives
    • Identify and implement process improvements and solutions
    • Assist with communications between and among groups within the Legal team and functions within Red Hat
    • Interact extensively with both external service providers (law firms, accounting firms, etc.) and internal customers

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of corporate paralegal experience relating to corporate governance matters, ideally within a fast-paced, highly innovative environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Solid interpersonal skills with a proven record of building relationships
    • Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of an organization, including senior executives and board members
    • Superb attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities
    • Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to help with tasks required to meet overall goals
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
    • Interest and passion for working within and contributing to a unique company culture


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Certified Paralegal credentials
    • Prior experience with international corporate legal matters
    • Prior experience preparing materials for senior executives and boards of directors
