    Job summary

    Come work on OpenShift by Red Hat, which is an open source container application platform based on the Kubernetes container cluster manager for enterprise application development and deployment. The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the OpenShift Service Development team. In this role, you will develop new features and maintain our OpenShift by Red Hat customer services. You’ll need to have excellent technical and communication skills, as you'll work closely with developers both within Red Hat and in the open source community. The role should ideally be located on the East Coast of the United States. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Play an active part in developing various projects around OpenShift by Red Hat customer services that allow customers and system reliability engineering (SRE) teams to manage their OpenShift by Red Hat clusters; most of these projects are based on Go on the back-end side and ReactJS on the front-end side
    • Become responsible for the quality of our offering, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and respond to security threats
    • Lead technical architecture and design discussions with peers from both within and outside of the team
    • Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of the offering
    • Work with our Red Hat's global customer support team and partner support teams on resolving customer issues
    • Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, and conference talks

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experience
    • Expertise in one or more high-level programming languages like Go, Ruby, Python, Java, C or C++, or JavaScript
    • Experience with modern client-side libraries and application frameworks like AngularJS, ReactJS, etc., as well as tools like JSLint and testing frameworks like Karma, Jasmine, JSUnit, Jest, etc.
    • Ability to create robust web applications from visual concepts, wireframes, and interactive product design sessions
    • Thorough knowledge of how client applications communicate over HTTP with services located on different web properties
    • Ability to quickly learn new technologies with minimal guidance; willingness to learn and work in languages like Go and ReactJS
    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Experience in web application development in a microservices architecture
    • Operations or SRE background
    • Familiarity with container-related technologies
    • Familiarity with virtualization, cluster, or distributed systems
