    Job summary

    Manage high-complexity projects to successful completion from initiation through delivery to closure. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a ​Senior​ ​Project Manager to join the Project Management Office team. In this role, you will coordinate with cross-functional teams to complete distinct projects both on time and within budget. You'll need to have substantial experience managing IT and software consulting projects and relying on traditional systems and software development methodologies, as well as practical experience with agile project management methodologies. This is a remote position with weekly travel to customer sites which can be located anywhere in the Western United States within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings (support, finance, sales, resource management, etc.)
    • Develop and effectively present and communicate content
    • Coordinate with the Resource Management Office (RMO) to manage project staffing requirements
    • Serve as a point of contact between the Consulting and Project Accounting teams
    • Support accounting activities as required, including obtaining copies of receipts for finance invoicing queries
    • Assist the Operations team with procuring sub​contractors when needed
    • Coach and mentor junior-level project managers
    • Maintain professionalism while problem-solving and resolving issues
    • Develop foundational knowledge of Red Hat's technologies
    • Maintain awareness of emerging Red Hat's technologies

    Required skills

    • Knowledge of specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies, e.g., Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies, system or software development, product development, or scrum
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
    • 10+ years of experience working as a project manager on IT-based projects
    • Ability to shape, inspect, and adapt culture
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate project team and individual contributors and mediate conflicts
    • Experience using various project management and agile tools
    • Excellent customer­-facing and internal communication skills   
    • Great written and verbal communication skills
    • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
    • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
