    Job summary

    Come work with the emerging technologies in cloud, data, mobile, and business transformation that lead the Application Modernization. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an Application Modernization and Migration Architect to join the Practice team in Texas, US. In this role, you will use a variety of modern application practices, along with emerging technologies from the communities of open source, to get it done. You will be pivotal in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business units, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. As an Application Modernization and Migration Architect, you will act as a customer advocate with these organizations to architect the right solutions and to ensure that those solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Use modernization and migration practices and open source emerging technologies like Microservices, API management, and web-scale architectures, DevOps engineering and application delivery, container-based continuous delivery (CD), or cloud automation, and everything-as-code
    • Deliver successful discovery, analysis and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape the customer's use cases and architecture design decisions
    • Scope delivery projects and guide customers through successful pilot and production deployments
    • Design, create, and deliver content that enables the broader Red Hat organization to sell, service, and support our middleware solutions at scale
    • Work closely with product business units, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales to ensure a world-class customer experience with Red Hat's solutions
    • Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies, tools, and instructions designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk
    • Demonstrate thought leadership in middleware community by producing world-class whitepapers, webinars, etc. and speaking at industry leading conferences

    Required skills

    • Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain as well as lightweight application architecture including microservices
    • Demonstrated track record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior developers, IT, and business executives
    • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple products and services
    • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
    • Solid balance of strategic and tactical skills, with a high level of creativity and capacity for original thought
    • 8+ years of experience in a lead developer, solutions architect, enterprise architect, or architect consulting delivery role
    • 5+ years focused on application development, maintenance, and support including their supporting infrastructures
    • Extensive knowledge of JEE servers like IBM WebSphere and Oracle WebLogic, API, web services, Spring framework
    • Broad and deep technical experience with virtualization and middleware technologies (e.g. JBoss EAP, JBoss BRMS, JBoss Fuse, OpenShift, etc.)
    • Willingness to travel up to 75% to client locations within North America
