    Job summary

    The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Cloud Consultant to join our team in Pocatello, Idaho. In this role you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's cloud solutions in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through a series of in-person interactions, you'll win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. You'll need to have a thorough working knowledge of and practical experience with cloud architectures like Infrastructure-as-a-Solution (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Solution (PAAS) and their supporting infrastructures and scripting languages (Python and Ruby). You'll also need to have a deep level of knowledge in either cloud networking (SDN) or storage (object and block) disciplines. As a Senior Cloud Consultant, you will play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate within these organizations to deliver the right solutions and to ensure that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. A current Top Secret clearance is required. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • ​Implement and integrate Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies like Infrastructure-as-a-Solution (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Solution (PaaS) including Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat CloudForms
    • Collaborate with project and customer team members to meet timelines and goals
    • Contribute to project documentation and diagrams including quality assurance QA and ticket and bug management
    • Participate in mentoring and knowledge transfer to customers
    • Develop and implement automation and integration for our customer cloud and system infrastructure solutions using Ruby, Python, or Ansible by Red Hat
    • Work with our senior associates to guide adoption of automation techniques and processes to improve cloud life cycle, including infrastructure and application uptime, availability, and time-to-market
    • Design and advocate solutions using cloud technologies, design principles, integration points, and automation methods​

    Required skills

    • 7+ years in a related technology role in consulting, operations, development, or related internships
    • 5+ years of experience with cloud and Linux technologies
    • 3+ years of experience with automation frameworks and tools like Puppet, Ansible by Red Hat, or CFEngine
    • Ability to serve as a technical mentor to consultants providing valuable, timely, and accurate technical mentoring
    • Ability to engage with customers as part of the presales process for services; ability to identify and promote a delivery methodology to meet customer project management requirements


    Detailed knowledge of selected technical skills in the following areas:

     

    • System management
    • Clustering and storage management
    • Varied types of virtualization (e.g., VMware, Red Hat Virtualization)
    • Identity management focused around Red Hat’s technologies
    • Security management with focus around SELinux policy creation and hardening
    • Performance tuning experience with the customer
    • Top Secret clearance
