    Job summary

    The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Senior Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will report to the Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting. You’ll be primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the company's 10-Q and 10-K form filings. Your responsibilities will include review of the XBRL tagging and ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial information included in earnings releases and related investor materials. As a Senior Analyst, you will also be responsible for ensuring completeness of disclosures by gaining understanding of the business activities and risks, providing assistance with drafting and coordinating responses to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC) comment letters as needed. You’ll need to develop and maintain solid collaborative relationships with other teams and key stakeholders.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Lead the preparation, compilation, and filing of 10-Q and 10-K forms while ensuring compliance with all financial disclosure and XBRL tagging requirements
    • Support quarterly reviews of external filings with external auditors and internal constituents
    • Take a leadership role in building efficiencies in the area of external financial reporting across the company, looking at expanding beyond the 10-Q and 10-K form filings to 8-K and other key SEC filings
    • Stay current on Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and SEC reporting and disclosure requirements, including the determination of disclosure implications and their application to the company
    • Assist and provide support for the quarterly earnings release process
    • Ensure compliance with process control requirements and improve controls where necessary
    • Take a lead role in creating and implementing an accounting training program
    • Update the accounting policy manual as needed
    • Assist in special projects like technical accounting research and benchmarking the review of disclosures made by other public companies
    • Mentor and develop team members

    Required skills

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification and bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
    • Active CPA license
    • 6+ years of direct experience with 10-Q and 10-K form filings, preferably in the software technology industry
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and with senior management
    • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment; solid organizational and time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Solid technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC, and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) guidance
    • Desire and ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates
    • Experience with software solutions to manage the preparation, conversion, and transmission of HTML and XBRL filings to the SEC
    • Working knowledge of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a plus
