    Job summary

    Provide a premium level of technical support that builds, maintains, and grows long-lasting customer loyalty by tailoring support for their environment, facilitating collaboration with their other vendors, and advocating on their behalf. Red Hat's Global Customer Success team is looking for an experienced, enterprise-level engineer to join us as an OpenShift Technical Account Manager in the Western United States. In this role, you will partner closely with enterprise customers to provide architectural guidance and implementation advice for the OpenShift by Red Hat portfolio. You'll work closely with our Engineering, R&D, Product Management, and Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) teams to debug, test, and resolve issues. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Support enterprise customers implementing automated and containerized cloud application platform solutions
    • Learn new technologies quickly, including topics like container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, and microservices on container platforms
    • Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to proactively identify and prevent issues
    • Gain understanding of customer technical infrastructure, hardware, and offerings and serve as a customer advocate within Red Hat
    • Collaborate with the engineering, R&D, product management, and technical support teams
    • Create documentation regarding customer issues and technical details on how to resolve them
    • Manage and grow customer relationships by delivering attentive, relationship-based support
    • Occasional travel to visit regional customers

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of Linux system administration experience or as a developer on Linux
    • 5+ years of experience in a support, development, engineering, IT, or quality assurance organization; experience working in DevOps environments is a plus
    • Expertise with enterprise cloud solutions like Platform-as-a-Service (OpenShift by Red Hat), containers, Kubernetes, cloud management (Red Hat CloudForms), and IT automation orchestration (Ansible by Red Hat)
    • Advanced knowledge of developer tools and processes
    • Ability to manage and grow existing enterprise customer relationships by delivering active, relationship-based support
    • Experience with RPM-based Linux and Java technologies
    • Direct experience with a variety of hardware vendors
    • Understanding of enterprise-class applications like Oracle, Veritas, and SAP
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to convey complex information to customers both clearly and concisely
    • Good comprehension of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) concepts
    • Ability to travel for customer visits and events within the region
    • Currently residing in the Western United States
    • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline, preferably computer science or engineering
    • Experience deploying applications in cloud environments and developing containerized applications is a plus
    • Familiarity with source code management tools like Git or SVN is a plus
