    Job summary

    Make significant contributions and improvements to Red Hat's quality engineering processes and infrastructure. The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Red Hat Multi-Product QE team in Westford, MA. In this role, you will develop the testing strategies for multiple solutions within our extensive portfolio of leading-edge technologies. To do so successfully, you'll first need to be well-versed in the product architecture, how they integrate with other solutions, and the ways they are used by our customers. You will make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria. You will also act as a technical automation lead for junior members of the team while interacting with customers, partners, and senior management at Red Hat. We'll need you to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as the willingness to learn new things.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the complete Red Hat portfolio and be responsible for the delivery of product integration test automation
    • Define automated test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures
    • Investigate and recommend test architecture and associated infrastructure pieces to support the quality engineering methodology, process, and procedures
    • Investigate and recommend testing and automation tools
    • Analyze product source code and propose appropriate test strategies for the solutions
    • Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings
    • Interact with external partners and customers regarding testing strategies
    • Schedule and lead reviews with senior management
    • Provide an accurate and timely status of automated testing efforts and quality statistics to the engineering organization

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science, with 5+ years of related experience and training; equivalent combination of education and experience is also considered
    • Expertise in programming languages like Python, Java, C
    • Domain knowledge about Red Hat’s offerings and the ability to learn about other offerings in Red Hat’s portfolio, including integration points; ability to develop broader knowledge outside of their specific technology domain
    • High level of technical knowledge as well as having solid communication skills
    • Ability to build solid relations in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
    • Experience with continuous integration and automation frameworks   
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Expertise in defining and analyzing metrics and managing technical debt
    • Background in test-driven development or Agile methodologies is an advantage
    • Experience with Ansible, Docker, and Git are a plus
