    Job summary

    Red Hat’s Global Accounting team is looking for a flexible Global Compensation Accounting Process Analyst to join us in. In this role, you will ensure accounting integrity and operational process effectiveness for many aspects of Red Hat’s financial statements, including share-based compensation, payroll, and other benefits. You’ll focus primarily on accounting and forecasting all elements of Red Hat’s compensation accounting, including various executive and associate share-based compensation plans. As a Global Compensation Accounting Process Analyst, you will also focus on all aspects of U.S. GAAP, tax, and reporting needs for Red Hat’s various stock equity plans. You’ll provide support to other key accounting areas within the Global Accounting team.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop, standardize, and optimize policies, processes, procedures, and business controls to deliver expected value
    • Benchmark and apply industry and internal best practices
    • Proficiently diagnose and identify problems and needs; define and prioritize improvements, ensure alignment with process vision, strategy, and goals
    • Proactively communicate and overcome barriers to deliver expected outcomes
    • Lead the tracking and accounting for all share-based compensation expenses
    • Prepare supporting documentation, analysis, and audit-ready referenced workpapers supporting share-based compensation expenses and related excess tax benefit calculations
    • Prepare and maintain Red Hat’s equity roll-forward statement and related earnings-per-share (EPS) and weighted-average-shares-outstanding (WASO) calculations
    • Support both internal and external audit requests
    • Prepare all required disclosures in support of Red Hat’s Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC) filings
    • Provide all aspects of forecasted share-based compensation expenses and related tax benefits
    • Assist in process control requirements relevant to the topic and where appropriate implement process efficiencies
    • Serve as a model of professionalism and operate in the spirit of teamwork and trust; promote a responsive, supportive, and open environment

    Required skills

    • Undergraduate degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in accounting; advanced degree in accounting is a plus
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or current CPA exam candidate
    • 3+ years of progressive experience; experience in a Big 4 or national public accounting firm or combination of public accounting and industry experience
    • Previous experience in share-based compensation programs
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment; solid organizational and time management skills
    • Good knowledge of U.S. GAAP, in particular related to ASC 718
    • Willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with other teams like Legal, Investor Relations, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Technical Accounting, and SEC Reporting teams
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively document, write, present, and engage appropriately audiences ranging from individual-contributor to executive-leadership levels across all geographies and stakeholders
    • Solid interpersonal skills; proven record of collaboratively working with diverse teams
    • Passion for rapidly learning and applying new skills and technologies
    • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
    • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP system is a plus
