    Job summary

    The Red Hat Quality Engineering team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will search for, analyze, report, and verify bugs. You'll create test plans and research new features. You'll also perform acceptance, function, regression, integration, and performance testing on Red Hat solutions. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll oversee all aspects of quality for Red Hat solutions, including developing new automated tests.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Report testing status, identify areas of risk, and, when necessary, assist fellow engineers in resolving issues related to the Identity Management product.
    • Plan and implement automated test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures. Improve and optimize tools and techniques to enhance quality of testing.
    • Investigate and recommend test-infrastructure tools to support the quality engineering methodology, processes, and procedures.
    • Analyze product source code and work with development counterparts to propose appropriate test strategies for the product subsystems. Perform manual and automated tests for the Identity Management product.
    • Develop test automation tools and develop and maintain automated tests in accordance with department policies and processes.
    • Execute tests and analyze failures.
    • Develop product-wide test plans and cases.
    • Develop and advocate the resolution of new bugs with developers and communicate the impact on customers to developers and support.
    • Interact with external/internal partners and customers regarding testing strategies and results.
    • Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings and provide an accurate and timely status of testing efforts and quality metrics to the broader project team.
    • Collaborate with customer support team in investigate and resolve customer cases.
    • Communicate with other globally distributed quality engineers and developers working on related product.
    • Mentor new team members and review Quality Engineering work of peers.

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
    • Linux commands and system administration.
    • Setting up LDAP and Kerberos servers and clients.
    • Building and maintaining test environments and automating tests.
    • Coding abilities using one or more of the following: Bash, Shell, Python or JAVA.
    • Provisioning and maintaining virtual machines using KVM or Docker containers or OpenStack.
    • Must have five (5) years of experience with the following. Professional software testing within a Linux environment. Cryptography basics, Certificate Lifecycle management; Encryption & Digital Signatures; and Hashing. Public key cryptography with smart cards that requires knowledge of security crypto tools. Linux commands and system administration. Setting up LDAP and Kerberos servers and clients. Building and maintaining test environments and automating tests. Coding abilities using one or more of the following: Bash, Shell, Python or JAVA. Provisioning and maintaining virtual machines using KVM or Docker containers or OpenStack.
