    Job summary

    The Red Hat OpenShift Product Management team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to work on our Kubernetes container platform solution in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for specific OpenShift subsystems and work with our Engineering and product teams responsible for building and delivering those to market. You will also be involved in the planning and carrying out of product releases and new product launches, prioritizing and communicating product requirements to guide development, supporting the field organization in advanced sales opportunities, performing competitive reviews and analysis, and working with partners. You will actively contribute to the overall company strategy and work closely with engineering, marketing, support, sales, and field teams to ensure the success of our product offerings. We'll need you to engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives including Kubernetes, Docker or Moby, OpenShift Origin, CoreOS, Fedora, CentOS, and more. We'll need you to have great communication and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity to work on a fast growing product, alongside some of the brightest minds in open source.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Collect and document input from OpenShift users, customers, community members, and other stakeholders to understand customer needs, develop product strategy, and roadmap
    • Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, documenting relative strengths and weaknesses, to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new releases
    • Prioritize and document product requirements, epics, and user stories for new releases
    • Lead major product enhancements by working cross-functionally with core teams across Red Hat Engineering and the upstream open source community
    • Work with OpenShift Engineering and the overall product team to manage product releases, updates, and bring new OpenShift solutions to market
    • Work with Sales teams to respond to customer inquiries, deliver customer presentations, demos, and support the overall sales process
    • Support sales and marketing activities including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical product collateral
    • Review and provide feedback on product documentation

    Required skills

    • 5-10 years of enterprise software industry experience in product management, technical marketing, or a similar technical product or customer facing role
    • Linux skills and working experience with Linux containers technology like Kubernetes, Docker, and related
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Heroku or similar cloud, or application management solutions
      Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Bachelor's or graduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering or related discipline
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%

    The following is a considered a plus:

    • Development skills or experience with Java, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, or similar
    • Experience with open source technologies and business models
    • Prior experience with the Agile development process
