    Job summary

    The Red Hat is looking for a Web Development Intern to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you'll join a multi-disciplinary, international software engineering team working on creating the front-end for the ChRIS project, a joint project between Red Hat, Boston Children's Hospital, and the Massachusetts Open Cloud. This open source project seeks to standardize and cloud-enable medical image processing plugins on top of the Red Hat OpenShift. The web interface you will build will enable researchers to find and apply these plugins to their data and process it in the Massachusetts open cloud. You will work closely with a mentor on developing new features and addressing existing defects and bugs in this interface. This internship is perfect for students studying computer science with experience in web development and an interest in human computer interaction and user experience who are passionate about making a positive difference in the world through technological innovation.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work on a web development project within the ChRIS web interface appropriate for the duration of your internship; design and implement code in order to complete this project
    • Participate actively in regular team meetings and discussions
    • Use opportunities to work on special related projects as needed

    Required skills

    • Web development experience using the Patternfly (patternfly.org) pattern library and the React framework (reactjs.org) for the front end and Python for the back end or willingness to learn; coursework in computer science, computer science-related extracurricular activities (engineering clubs, personal coding projects, etc.) with work portfolio will be considered We would love to see
    • Familiarity with object-oriented programming, particularly Python, is preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on writing
    • Passion for and interest in technology
    • Ability to work 40 hours a week for the duration of the internship
