    Job summary

    The Red Hat Product Portfolio Marketing team is looking for an experienced Market Research Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll help influence decisions for portfolio and product strategy, positioning and messaging, and overall go to market. Research will span customer product usage, market and technology trends, thought leadership topics, IT spending and priorities, and more. You will spearhead the portfolio-wide market research program, working with teams across all product and portfolio areas as well as collaborating closely with product marketing, corporate marketing, and other data science teams. You’ll develop and deliver customer and market insights using quantitative and qualitative research methods, using internal tools and analysis as well as third-party vendors for online surveys, focus groups or in-depth interviews. We’ll expect you to analyze data using statistical tests, visualize and present their findings, and provide actionable insights. In addition to conducting research of your own, you will manage a research enablement platform aiding product marketing with ad hoc research projects as well as all other aspects of insights practice management including communications, planning, and knowledge management.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop, manage, and present the Portfolio Product Market Research program
    • Perform customer and market research on the Red Hat portfolio and individual solutions
    • Gather data, perform analysis, and provide actionable insights
    • Devise and evaluate methods for collecting data, including online surveys, questionnaires, and polls
    • Perform online surveys and interviews
    • Analyze and visually present data
    • Perform ad hoc data analyses
    • Evaluate and retain agencies, as well as manage agency relationships
    • Maintain the research library and the overall knowledge management plan
    • Develop and manage the PnT research communications plan

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience performing market research and data analysis
    • Experience using quantitative methods (e.g. Anova and Chi-Square) to explore and answer research questions using survey data
    • Experience at a large enterprise technology company
    • Understanding of enterprise technology as well as the application of those technologies to solve customer challenges
    • Understanding of research design, i.e. know when to use a survey vs. in-depth interviews vs. focus groups vs. mixed methods
    • Ability to convert complex data and findings into understandable, visual reports and provide analysis, consultation and actionable insights
    • Experience designing questionnaires using survey platforms; experience with Qualtrics is a plus
    • Manage large, complex projects
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to collaborate and work on your own, across multiple teams in a fast-paced and fast-growing environment
    • Project and program management experience
