    Job summary

    The Red Hat Global Sales Operations team is looking for a Senior Business Strategy Consultant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will guide multiple efforts to develop and rationalize strategic initiatives for the Sales and Services team. You’ll have the opportunity to oversee and guide the implementation of a fast planning exercise and have significant exposure to some of the most influential and important projects at Red Hat. As a senior member of the Global Sales Strategy team, you will be responsible for enabling Sales and Services team’s strategic imperatives at Red Hat. We’ll need you to effectively manage teams in a cross-functional meritocracy and bring the strategy together. You’ll need to be able to quickly switch between macro-level strategies and micro-level tactics, grasp concepts quickly, and have a robust and broad knowledge base around a number of competencies.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Help with key global initiatives like guiding segmentation-based go to market (GTM) planning, increasing deal throughput, and other initiatives within the Field Sales team
    • Investigate business problems, including improving sales productivity or increasing deal throughput, improving modeling and strategic analysis skills, to understand key business strategies and initiatives  
    • Structure and guide analysis and conduct primary research to uncover insights  
    • Identify and validate value creation opportunities for competitive GTM strategies  
    • Define, develop, and guide long-term strategies and initiatives that will result in profitable growth
    • Provide in-house consulting related to strategy and business practices for the Sales and Services team
    • Identify key drivers to effectively investigate problems and causes; work with the Sales and other Red Hat teams to develop solutions
    • Present at team meetings and key cross-departmental business reviews and determine the way to guide lasting results based on your insights and analysis
    • Maintain industry knowledge regarding our competitor landscape, strategic threats, and opportunities related to our business, and articulate strategies for addressing these threats to senior management
    • Partner with the Customer Forensics team to analyse win-loss data and adjust GTM and segmentation strategy, customer buying program strategy, and the deal management process
    • Define and own the strategic planning process that aligns to the comprehensive business strategy for the Global Sales and Services team
    • Guide teams to agree on strategic questions, objectives, and key decisions and results
    • Develop market analysis to support segmentation and industry verticalization, investments into market share growth, and competitive positioning of our solutions
    • Collaborate with senior sales and services leaders to build comprehensive business strategies to integrate new merger and acquisition targets that capitalize on the competitive strengths of the acquired company  
    • Perform internal and external research to align merger and acquisition sales integration strategies to benchmarks and develop operational sales models with regional teams
    • Build cross-functional relationships to gain alignment from peers, leaders, and stakeholders in the implementation of key strategic programs
    • Act as a contact for the Red Hat ecosystem that supports our field teams to keep them informed and aligned on sales priorities and nuances in our business  
    • Communicate effectively and persuasively in a business context to senior executives

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of industry experience in a strategy and analytical role or management consulting role, preferably from a larger organization
    • Bachelor's degree in a technology or analytical discipline; graduate degree in business management (MBA), applied economics, or analytics is a plus
    • Combined background of services and sales or direct sales support experience

    • 5+ years of experience working with complex business problems and coordinate with technical teams to help translate these business problems into technical solutions
    • 3+ years of experience working with large data sets and performing data analysis or spreadsheet analysis
    • Solid customer-facing skills and passion for growth

Analytical and process-oriented with high motivation toward solving problems
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent ability to create and deliver presentations
    • Exceptional business insight, with the ability to apply analytical problem-solving skills and quantitative methods to measure customer experience, solution usage, and customer satisfaction
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with peers, customers, and executives
    • Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams, deliver information to senior leadership, and keep project plans on time and on budget
    • Deep financial and operational understanding of value drivers in recurring revenue and subscription business models
