    Job summary

    The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the way identity management works. You will gain deep understanding of a variety of technologies, including the public key infrastructure (PKI) and the identity assurance program (lDAP). You will make sure that our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria. As a Quality Engineer, you'll serve as the last instance before applications are released to the public. You'll create and carry out test plans, research new features, and develop automated tests. You’ll need to be willing to learn new things and have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the complete identity management solutions portfolio and be responsible for the delivery of Dogtag Certificate System
    • Create and review test and sprint planning processes and suggest improvements for product planning processes
    • Develop new automated and manual tests; develop frameworks to ease test development and automation to speed up implementation
    • Assist in or perform a root cause analysis of issues to get a starting point from which to address problems
    • Serve as an internal advocate for our customers
    • Take responsibility for and supervise a successful testing of Dogtag Certificate System in a timely manner
    • Analyze and prioritize quality risks and identify tests required to mitigate them
    • Contribute to upstream automation and provide demos of the solutions and technologies
    • Help the team lead to delegate and support the team working on Dogtag Certificate System; serve as a temporary team lead in times of need
    • Help to establish a consensus among all stakeholders in the wider team to achieve a goal
    • Mentor junior team members

    Required skills

    • 3-5+ years of experience in quality engineering
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to contribute code to or to design and code complex test cases and code frameworks that simplify test development and automation solutions
    • Ability to assist in or perform a root cause analysis of issues, possibly spanning multiple components and subsystems, and develop reproducers
    • Solid skills and background in Linux
    • Deep knowledge of Python programming and shell scripting
    • Ability to build solid relations in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
    • Highly experienced in trends and technologies in PKI
