    Job summary

    The Products and Technologies Operations (PnT Ops) Investments and Planning (I&P) team is looking for a Business Strategy Consultant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help improve planning within the PnT team. You’ll work as part of the I&P team, which creates and applies integrated planning processes, promotes better understanding of our current and future business performance, and ensures that planning efforts lead to improved tracking and realization of our operational and strategic plans. You’ll help us guide fundamental changes to how we plan and conduct our business. You’ll also help the PnT Ops team support the PnT Business, Office of the CTO, Engineering, and Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) teams, which lead and support Red Hat's evolution of open hybrid cloud computing. You’ll collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Services, and other enterprise planning teams. As a Business Strategy Consultant, you will apply business planning principles and best practices.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Create and lead the adoption of operational planning processes that have enterprise-wide impacts
    • Examine the current state, identify options for improvement, and guide organizational changes required in order to gain adoption and realize the desired future state
    • Support R&D operational planning and related processes and tooling to effectively manage capital expense budgeting and spending
    • Report to the Senior Manager of the PnT Ops I&P team
    • Define and facilitate planning processes
    • Provide practical advice to PnT leaders about implementing long-term, portfolio, operational, and budget planning
    • Differentiate strategic investments from other work, so that PnT can react with flexibility and speed to market opportunities
    • Create alignment between PnT and the Sales, Services, and Marketing go-to-market plans through alignment of goals and the implementation of clear, repeatable planning processes that result in actionable operational plans
    • Cascade Business team’s strategy and goals into a well-defined set of R&D investments, incorporating recruiting, facilities, DevOps, and other needs into a unified PnT operational plan
    • Build trusted, productive partnerships across Red Hat that reduce the iterations and difficulties associated with planning
    • Increase collective expertise about how to collaborate and align across teams to make our everyday work rewarding and enjoyable

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience in operations, marketing, sales or finance in high-tech companies
    • Business planning background, or direct operations expertise in high-tech business settings; both business and operations experience is a plus
    • Ability to think creatively, blending quantitative assessments and qualitative inputs to create a vision for potential future alternatives
    • Ability to define and build realistic operational plans
    • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity
    • Open-minded to multiple points of view; critical thinking skills
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills focused on clear and concise recommendations related to complex problems and analysis; comfortable communicating and presenting to executives
    • Diplomatic skills when working with peers and when guiding organizational change
    • Detail-oriented and thorough
    • Confidence working with teams of equally qualified professionals toward common goals
    • MBA and experience with strategic or operational planning are a big plus
    • Experience within Red Hat is a plus
