    Job summary

    The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the way multi-product test automation is built. You will gain deep understanding of a complete portfolio of our solutions and related technologies, including virtualization, cloud, and storage technologies. You will make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria compared to competing offerings. You will serve as a customer advocate with an adept understanding of our product offerings, how they integrate with other products, and the ways in which they are used by our customers. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll serve as a mentor to other team members and advise them on interpreting interoperability requirements, formulating test cases, creating and implementing test plans, researching new features, and developing automated tests. You’ll need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as willingness to learn new things.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the complete Red Hat’s solutions portfolio and be actively involved in and responsible for the definition and implementation of multi-product interoperability test scenarios
    • Create and review test plans and suggest improvements for multi-product testing processes
    • Develop new automated tests; design and develop new test frameworks and automation; analyze current solutions and suggest improvements
    • Participate in code reviews and provide input on the code design
    • Work with our product QE teams to identify and integrate existing tests into multi-product interoperability scenarios
    • Participate in and perform a root cause analysis of issues to get a starting point to address problems
    • Take responsibility for a multi-product interoperability scenario and supervise its successful testing in a timely manner
    • Contribute bug fixes to upstream and provide demos of the solutions and technologies
    • Help the team lead delegate and support the team as it works on the multi-product interoperability testing; serve as a temporary team lead in times of need
    • Mentor more junior team members

    Required skills

    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to design and code complex test cases and code, or contribute code to frameworks that simplify test development and automation solutions
    • Ability to assist in and perform a root cause analysis of issues, possibly spanning multiple components and subsystems, and the ability to develop reproducers
    • Ability to take responsibility for writing complex test plans for a feature and provide usable time estimations on completion; ability to identify potential risks connected to test development of the assigned feature and mitigate them
    • Solid skills and background in a Linux environment
    • Deep knowledge in programming languages like Python and Ansible
    • Ability to build solid relationships in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
    • Experience in industry trends in virtualization, cloud, or storage technologies is a plus
    • Knowledge of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) technologies is a plus
