    Job summary

    The Red Hat OpenStack Engineering team is looking for a Cloud Service Assurance Architect with a strong interest in metrics and monitoring to join us. In this role, you’ll contribute to the evolution of the Service Assurance Framework within Red Hat OpenStack Platform and across our product portfolio. You’ll serve as a technical leader, helping drive the architecture and implementation of this strategically important initiative. You’ll become part of a distributed, self-organizing team, working in close collaboration and regular communication with colleagues and fellow upstream developers. As a Cloud Service Assurance Architect, you’ll need to have both leadership and teamwork skills.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Serve as the technical lead for the Red Hat OpenStack Metrics and Monitoring team
    • Create and guide new feature development; contribute to relevant open source projects
    • Guide productive discussions with multiple stakeholders in the upstream communities and with internal cross-functional teams
    • Ensure quality, technical correctness, and maintainability of features and help set the product direction
    • Participate in an agile group activities like planning, implementation, and retrospective
    • Collaborate with other community members to increase the momentum behind the upstream projects on which Red Hat's technologies are based

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent work experience
    • Deep knowledge of cloud technologies such as Red Hat OpenStack or Kubernetes
    • Relevant experience with monitoring and observability technologies like Prometheus, collectd, fluentd, cAdvisor, etc.
    • Knowledge of distributed messaging protocols like AMQP and implementations like AMQ, RabbitMQ, or Apache Qpid
    • Expertise in time-series databases (TSDB) like InfluxDB or KairosDB, and search engines like Elasticsearch
    • 8+ years of experience programming in a Linux environment with languages such as Golang, Python, C or C++
    • Good at scalable architecture and operational simplicity
    • Experience with configuration management tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation, Puppet, or Chef
    • Knowledge of virtualization technology, preferably KVM
    • Interested in open source software development, preferably with a contribution record to match
    • Solid communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work as part of a self-organizing team, and also to lead technical direction
