    Job summary

    The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will work as part of a team that serves as the final checkpoint before the code is released to the public. You will perform function, integration, and user interface (UI) testing on Red Hat's cloud infrastructure project, Red Hat OpenShift platform. As a Quality Engineer, you will be encouraged to come up with innovative solutions to problems while you work alongside some of the brightest engineers in the open source community.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Write automated tests and carry out manual tests
    • Develop tests using automation infrastructure and available scripting languages
    • Create test cases and maintain an understanding of the processes
    • Help develop the community automation testing framework and enhance the coverage by adding more tests to the existing suite
    • Find bugs and write accurate bug reports
    • Build or enhance tools after gaining support from stakeholders in QE and Development teams
    • Analyze the source code of our offerings and work with your development counterparts to propose appropriate test strategies
    • Participate in the design sessions of the solutions with development and product management to scope and prioritize new features

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience working as an automation quality engineer or software engineer
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering
    • Experience testing UI and web offerings
    • Good knowledge of client-server technology and RESTful API calls
    • Advanced coding abilities using Python, Selenium, and shell scripting languages
    • Good knowledge of Red Hat Ansible Automation and Jenkins
    • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM, and Xen
    • Understanding of cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions like the Red Hat OpenShift platform
    • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining test environments and automated test suites
    • Experience with open source software development methodologies
    • Linux or UNIX system administration experience
    • Good knowledge and understanding of networking layers 3-5
