    Job summary

    Provide consulting support to Red Hat’ customers on Red Hat Ceph Storage, Red Hat Gluster Storage, and related Red Hat’s service offerings. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Software Defined Storage Consultant with solid platform, Linux, and networking skills that has software defined storage experience or eager to learn Red Hat's software defined storage products (Ceph and Gluster) to join us at any location in the U.S. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of project fulfillment during its delivery, making sure that customer expectations are met and deliverables as described in the statements of work (SOWs) are completed to our customers’ satisfaction. You'll work on designing, architecting, and documenting storage solutions that meet customer requirements, on the delivery of implementation services like installation and configuration, and on troubleshooting. In between billable consulting engagements, you'll resolve support tickets. As a Senior Storage Consultant, you'll need to have a balance of technical expertise, passion for open source, and of deep understanding of IT problems faced at the enterprise level, particularly as they impact storage subsystems. You'll also need good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as you will be assigned the most challenging projects and interact with senior-level associates on the customer side. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. This position requires an active Secret security clearance.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Provide technical consulting, assistance, and enablement to customers on Red Hat's storage technologies, particularly concerning Red Hat Ceph Storage
    • Represent Red Hat to our customers and ensure customer engagements always result in high levels of customer satisfaction
    • Engage customers regarding requirements analysis, document business use cases, prioritize requirements, and design custom-tailored storage solutions with Red Hat Ceph Storage
    • Develop designs for storage architectures of varying scale; present features and benefits of our offerings to customers
    • Answer questions using your knowledge of the Red Hat Ceph Storage system and sophisticated processes
    • Work with the Engineering team and clearly communicate problems and solutions
    • Develop and deliver relevant solutions, including workshops, migration tools and guides, reference architectures, and related solutions collateral
    • Provide training for our offerings through webinars and workshops
    • Help escalate and resolve partner technical support issues
    • Mentor and coach junior team members

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
    • 10+ years of IT industry experience
    • 5+ years of experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), system configuration, and administration
    • 5+ years of experience with platform or storage technologies
    • Familiarity with popular cloud operating systems, in particular the Red Hat OpenStack Platform
    • Good understanding of DevOps tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible by Red Hat
    • Solid knowledge of Python and Bash
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent combination of skills and experience
    • RHCE certification program will be offered and needed to be achieved within 60 days of hire
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of open source technologies and industry trends relating to open source
    • Excellent time management, decision-making, presentation, HR, and organizational skills
    • Willingness to travel 70% or more, including international travel
    • Ability to work in a remote office environment
    • Experience with software-defined storage technologies like Red Hat Ceph
    • Storage or Red Hat Gluster Storage is a plus
    • Knowledge of Eucalyptus, Apache CloudStack, or VMware vSphere is a plus
