    Job summary

    The Red Hat User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for an Interaction Design Intern to join our growing team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will use feedback from customers to identify usability problems and work with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and product managers to deliver real solutions for Red Hat. You'll collaborate across teams to share your ideas and process, enabling you to learn more about the usage of data in information design decisions.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Contribute to an interdisciplinary team that includes user experience designers, developers, product and marketing managers, and other stakeholders through all phases of the development cycle
    • Identify the right problems to solve, gauge the usability of offerings, and make sound recommendations for improvements
    • Clearly understand and articulate the information architecture, workflows, and processes surrounding UX
    • Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design
    • Design and carry out targeted usability tests to validate design choices
    • Work with developers to implement strategies that ensure technical success





    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
    • Working toward a bachelor's degree or higher in interaction design, visual design, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, or a closely related area, or equivalent experience
    • Experience with UI design process and methodology, particularly as applied to web-based applications
    • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus
    • Portfolio of UX work, including links to your work in the resume
