    Job summary

    The Red Hat Web Experience team is looking for a Web UX Research Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help the Web Experience and Digital Design teams plan, conduct, and document findings from user research focused on gathering customer-centric ideas to improve our website redhat.com and the system of websites. You'll gain a solid knowledge of web standards, information architecture, usability, and taxonomy. You will need to have a passion for user research, usability studies, and customer surveys and interviews. You’ll have a great opportunity to work alongside experienced web strategists, designers, writers, analysts, and product managers and engage directly with business customers. This role is part of Red Hat's summer 2020 intern program that runs from mid-May to mid-August.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Learn about web design and user research in an enterprise company
    • Collaborate with web analysts, product managers, UX designers, and business stakeholders to plan user research
    • Focus on user-centric questions and apply design thinking to gain insights that identify and solve real end user problems
    • Work with the user research working group to conduct research; document and communicate findings with the broader teams

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
    • Great verbal and written communication skills
    • Empathy for end users
    • Experience with graphic design and web UI design
    • Experience with analytics is a plus
    • General knowledge of HTML, CSS, and content management systems is a plus
    • Knowledge of web standards, information architecture, usability, and taxonomy is a plus
