    Job summary

    The Red Hat North America (NA) Revenue team is looking for a Revenue Accounting Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will assist with day-to-day accounting operations and compliance activities related to revenue recognition here at Red Hat. You'll need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively, be a quick learner, and have solid Microsoft Excel skills. As a Revenue Accounting Intern, you’ll also need to have a basic understanding of accounting principles under the U.S. GAAP.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Assist with the period-end closing process, account reconciliations, and journal entries
    • Assist in the performance of monthly internal control activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and Red Hat policies
    • Assist with quarter-end reporting and external audit and review processes
    • Work closely with other teams inside and outside of finance on special projects as needed

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
    • Working toward a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
    • Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP
    • Solid Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.
    • Motivated with good creative problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to work extra hours during quarter end and other high-volume times when necessary
    • Experience with a major enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package, especially with Oracle, is a plus
    • Positive attitude
