    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a skilled OpenStack Intern to join our OpenStack Production Chain team in Westford, MA. In this role, you will help with the development of our open source solutions, as well as provide support for our internal systems.This internship will give you unique insight into life at Red Hat and the opportunity to build a valuable network of peers and professionals while contributing to our Red Hat OpenStack Platform cloud solution. This summer internship will give you the opportunity to gain real-world experience using your development skills to help create the next generation of tools for Red Hat. As an OpenStack Intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in regular Red Hat programs, including lunch-and-learns with executives, volunteer opportunities, day trips, and different after-work events.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Contribute to software and test development for our open source Red Hat OpenStack Platform cloud solutions
    • Program in Python or Red Hat Ansible Automation in the various projects that make up the build, delivery, and continuous testing of Red Hat OpenStack Platform
    • Perform test-driven development using a variety of DevOps tools and scripting languages
    • Collaborate on improvements and communicate with other team members

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours during Summer 2020 in the location listed
    • Ability to work 10-14 weeks throughout the Summer of 2020
    • Currently enrolled in an accredited computer science or software-related degree program or graduated no earlier than December 2019
    • Experience with programming languages like Python or Red Hat Ansible Automation; Python experience is a big plus
    • Ability to troubleshoot software problems and analyze software behavior
    • Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving, technical environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Interest in software and technology fields
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Good interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration
