    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a skilled Intern to join our OpenStack CloudOps team with a focus on backup and restore procedures in our office in Boston, MA. In this role, you will help with the development of our open source solutions, while also providing support for our internal systems. As an Intern at Red Hat, you will become part of the team that works on improving our backup and restore procedures for Red Hat OpenStack Platform. You’ll have the unique possibility of helping us decide what technologies should be used next. In addition, you’ll get to learn technologies like Jenkins for gating and test development.


    This internship will give you a unique insight into the life at Red Hat and the opportunity to build a valuable network of peers and professionals. You’ll contribute to our Red Hat OpenStack Platform cloud solution and gain real-world experience using your development skills to help create the next generation of tools for Red Hat. You will have the opportunity to participate in regular Red Hat programs, including lunch-and-learns with executives, volunteer opportunities, day trips, and different after-work events.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Contribute to software and test development for our open source Red Hat OpenStack Platform cloud solutions
    • Program in Python, Ansible, and contribute to open source projects like TripleO
    • Perform test-driven development using a variety of DevOps tools and scripting languages
    • Collaborate on improvements and communicate with other team members

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours for 10-14 weeks during the summer of 2020 in the location listed (Boston, MA)
    • Currently enrolled in an accredited computer science or software-related degree program or graduated no earlier than December 2019
    • Experience with programming languages like Python, Ansible, Go, C, Java, or Ruby; Python experience is a big plus
    • Ability to troubleshoot software problems and analyze software behavior
    • Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving, technical environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Interest in software and technology fields
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Good interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration
