    Job summary

    The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a summer engineering Intern to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will contribute to the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, built on Linux containers and the Kubernetes cluster management system. Being part of the Red Hat OpenShift team is about passion for technology and development. We are building a system that is changing how development is done. You'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of contributing to one of the most innovative cloud computing projects.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis; don't be discouraged if you aren't familiar with some of the tools and technology included in the list below, as we can help you learn as long as you have the flexibility to apply your knowledge and experience to these new tools:
      • Docker
      • Kubernetes
      • Linux and UNIX operating systems
    • Develop code with Go, JavaScript, and Bash scripts, and other OpenShift-supported languages
    • Communicate with community members through IRC, forums, and email
    • Participate in upstream projects

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours during the summer of 2020 in the location listed (Boston, MA)
    • Practical experience with web or system programming, or equivalent university coursework
    • Knowledge of the UNIX and Linux operating systems of any distribution
    • Ability to communicate at an intermediate level in English, as you’ll become part of a global team
    • Previous code contributions to open source projects or code samples on GitHub are a plus
