    Job summary

    The Red Hat Ansible Engine team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in North America. In this role, you will maintain and develop our distribution packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Fedora, Ubuntu, and PyPi. You will work with our release engineering teams to build and ship our RPM packages to Red Hat's customers. As System Administrator, you will also work with our architects, product managers, and other stakeholders to estimate and plan release dates.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain package specifications for various distributions
    • Build packages with ppa, mock, Jenkins, brew or Koji, and other automated systems
    • Resolve issues related to packaging
    • Communicate release information to various stakeholders

    Required skills

    • Solid knowledge of Python packaging and its ecosystem
    • Good knowledge of RPM specifications and Debian control files
    • High ability or desire to automate repetitive tasks
    • Experience with Jenkins and other continuous integration (CI) systems 
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification or equivalent experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

    Experience with the following is considered a plus:

    • Red Hat Ansible Automation
    • GitHub and operational support system (OSS) contribution
    • Red Hat's internal package building systems
    • Fedora packaging
    • Upstream Python maintenance
